Robert L. Harms 77 of Eden died Wednesday, February 03, 2010. He was the son of the late Charles F. and Velma (Nagel) Harms. Mr. Harms was a Korean War Veteran who served his country from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of the Eden Memorial VFW Post # 1526 and the American Legion Post #880. He was also a member of the Fortune Lodge # 788, F.&A.M., North Collins, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Collins Conservation Club. Mr. Harms had a love for nature, gardening and often took in needy animals. Everyone knew to bring their broken toys, bikes and hearts to "Bob's garage or barn" for fixing. He would never pass a broken down car without lending assistance to a total stranger. He enjoyed any type of mechanical work. Mr. Harms worked for Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company for 39 years. He was known for being a hard working man whose family meant the world to him. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, F. Louise (Burger), 4 children Robert C. (Frances) Harms, Lori J. (Steve) Awve, Nancy A. (Paul) Donati, and Kristie A. (Tim) Krawczyk, and 8 grandchildren, Rob, Nick, John, Jillian, PJ, Jenna, Ryan, and Emily. Also surviving is a brother, James (Joyce) Harms of Eden and a sister Marjorie (Larry) Meadows of Seale, AL. Predeceased by his brother, Charles "Tyke" Harms. A Memorial Service will be held on March 13, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the St. James United Church of Christ, Hamburg, NY Memorials may be made to the ECMC Lifeline Foundation, 462 Grider St. Suite G-1, Buffalo, NY 14215 Arrangements are entrusted to the Laing Funeral Home Inc 2724 W. Church Street Eden NY.
