Dorothea Carol Meyer (nee Hickman) 89, of Eden, NY died Monday, June 7, 2010. Born in Eden on April 26, 1921, the daughter of Edward and Caroline (Altes) Hickman. She was an Eden High School graduate in 1937, she then went on to receive her BA in English at the University of Buffalo in 1941. She married her loving husband Franklin Meyer, MD on February 19, 1944 and moved with him to Santa Fe, N.M. at Brun's General Army Hospital for the remainder of WWII. The couple moved back to Eden in 1947. Mrs. Meyer was the Eden Town Historian from 1996 to 2008, Treasurer of the Eden Historical Society from 1962 to 2007. She was a long time member of the Hamburg Antique Study Club. Mrs. Meyer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden, NY. She had a special love for antiques, genealogy, and historical preservation. She is survived by her three children; Franklin H. Meyer, DDS (Linda) of Eden, New York, Edward H. Meyer of Wiggins, Colorado, and Dorothea H. Saelens (Richard) of Hilliard, Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren Anna and Elsa Saelens. She is predeceased by her parents, a sister Marjorie, and her husband Franklin Meyer, MD (1996). Family and friends are invited to call at the Laing Funeral Home, Inc 2724 W. Church St. Eden, NY on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 2PM to 4Pm & 7Pm to 9PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church 3487 N. Boston Rd, Eden, NY at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held in the Eden Evergreen Cemetery, Eden, NY Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Eden Historical Society 8639 S.
