Obituary of Joyce D. Schwippert

Joyce H. Schwippert September 24, 1927 – February 9, 2016 Joyce H. Schwippert died on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Greenfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, NY following a brief illness. A long-time resident of Eden, NY, she was 88. Born Joyce H. Duff in Hamburg, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Irene Duff. She grew up in Lakeview, NY and was a graduate of Angola High School. She went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Bryant & Stratton Institute. Mrs. Schwippert was married for 42 years to the late Dr. Harry Schwippert who was a prominent area surgeon and former Plant Medical Director at Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna. The couple had two children, Mark T. Schwippert and Pamela J. Beiring. Mrs. Schwippert is also survived by a granddaughter, Kelly Schwippert and five grandsons, Matthew Schwippert, Shawn Christopher, Troy Christopher, Ryan Christopher and Jay Schwippert. Mrs. Schwippert was an avid gardener and was a long-time member of the Eden Garden Club. She was very artistic, enjoyed painting with oil and water colors, and volunteered with the American Red Cross. No prior visitation. Arrangements at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross.
