Frederick C. Ressel passed peacefully on Dec. 12, 2016 surrounded by family. Born from Irish & Austrian parents, he was 85. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judith Stephens, his four children Pam (Jeffrey) Shannon, Chip (Teresa Mullett), Susan (Paul) Kumleben, Woody (Lisa Kerl), 10 grandchildren, and his 93 year old brother, Ronald Ressel of Punta Gorda, FL. Fred was a Marine in the Korean War, General Manager of Fantasy Island, President of Charles Management Co. and proudly orchestrated the building of the UB Anderson Art Gallery. An avid sailor, he participated in the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club Wednesday Night races, the Erie-Dover Race and numerous Hobie-Cat races. A professional ski instructor at both Kissing Bridge & Holiday Valley until the age of 80+, he taught his children and grandchildren to ski & sail at an early age. Bicycling was more than a passion. After breaking his neck in a cycling accident, several short months later he hopped back on his bike! The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Fox Run Community & Nursing Staff for their compassion and commitment to quality care infused with extraordinary humanity.
