Obituary of Richard Frank Habermehl

Richard (Dick) Frank Habermehl, 92, of Eden, New York died Friday, February 7, 2025 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Dick was born November 5, 1932 in Buffalo, New York to the late Frank and Irene Habermehl. He spent over 72 years with his loving wife, the former Peggy Roggy, and they were married on November 22, 1952 at St. Mary of Sorrows RC Church in Buffalo–the same day he received his draft letter.

Dick served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was employed as a Locomotive Engineer with Hanna Furnace until his retirement.

He was very proud of the home that he and Peggy bought 54 years ago. Dick was multi-talented, making improvements, such as mechanical fixing, manicuring his land, and taking on big and small tasks in his beloved barn himself.

In his later years, Dick volunteered for several organizations, including the Eden-North Collins Food Pantry for 13 years and Meals on Wheels for eight years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Eden for over 50 years.

Dick was also a Buffalo Bills football fan.

Dick is survived by his wife, Peggy, his sons; David (Wendy), Paul (Marina), Richard (Amanda) Habermehl, and his daughters; Donna (Chris) Jensen and JoAnn (Jeff) Juhasz. He was the grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 27. Brother of Norbert (late Dolores) Eleanor (late Lewis) Smith, late Dorothy Hall, late Gertrude West and the late Irene Smith
