Obituary of Raymond Charles Klein

Raymond Charles Klein

Raymond Charles Klein, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Eden, NY, on July 19, 2025. Born at home in North Boston, NY, on June 18, 1934, Raymond lived a full and generous life, dedicated to family, service, and community.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marion Sylvia (Miller) Klein. Together, they built a life rooted in love, exploration, and shared adventure. Ray is survived by his daughters April Joy Faust (Stephen-deceased), September Rae Klein (Bob Grimm), and Vanessa June Schwanz (Chris); grandchildren Nicholle, Ty, Chanelle, Dylan, Dana, Sam, and Kyle; great-grandchildren Ava, Caleb, Drew, Ian, Leila and Avery; and his sister Loretta (Klein) Shelley.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Raymond served honorably for two years as a radio operator in Korea and Fort Hood, TX. His professional life reflected his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit – he was Co-Owner of the Ray-Lee Barbershop and served as Vice President of the Eden Agency Inc.

Raymond was also a key member of the Eden Corn Festival Committee and held leadership positions for many years, contributing to the heart of the community he cherished.

His love for Eden was matched by his passion for giving back. He supported numerous charitable organizations, including the Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club, American Legion, Eden Rescue Squad, and Meals on Wheels.

Ray was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gowanda Country Club, Eden Chamber of Commerce, and the Sons of the American Legion.

An avid sportsman, Raymond enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, golfing, bowling, and spending time in his woodworking shop, affectionately known as “the Scrap Yard.” He had a quiet pride in his younger days as a talented baseball player – only recently did the family learn he had been scouted and invited to try out by two Major League Baseball teams. Whether playing or watching, Raymond remained a devoted sports enthusiast throughout his life.

Raymond and Marion shared a deep love for travel, visiting over 40 U.S. states together as well as destinations such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the Caribbean. His favorite place was always wherever his family gathered.

He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, humility, sharp wit, and unwavering commitment to those around him.
