Claudia Estelle Markham-Ahl, age 70, of Ocala, FL and Fredonia, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, June 8, 2022 after a long, gallant fight with cancer. The daughter of the late Clair and Joyce (Nagle) Markham, Claudia was born on January 17, 1952 in Silver Creek, NY. She was a graduate of Silver Creek Central School, Class of 1970. Claudia went on to study German Education and English at Ithaca College and graduated in 1974. She then studied Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University and later, Elementary Education and English at SUNY at Fredonia, where she received her Masters of Education Degree in 1978. She taught for 39 years in several of Florida’s Marion County Schools, most recently Liberty Middle School, where she taught science. She retired from teaching in June 2013. She married her loving husband, Bryan D. Ahl in Ocala, FL on Sept. 23, 1995 and they enjoyed a storybook romance for 24 years. Claudia was a member of the Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church and she also attended the First Presbyterian Church in Ocala and the First United Presbyterian Church in Silver Creek, NY, where she was an active member of the Deborah Circle. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Ocala Chapter) and a member of Ocala's VFW Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Claudia is predeceased by her husband, Bryan Ahl, and their beloved dog, Ladyfingers. She is survived by her dear sister, Cathy (Jim) Hebb, a niece, Clare Hebb, a nephew, Jimmy Hebb, and a great nephew, Cace Hottle. Family and friends are invited to call at the First United Presbyterian Church, 35 Park Pl, Silver Creek, NY 14136 on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 11 – 1 PM followed by a service at the church at 1:00. Interment will be next to her husband in the Eden Evergreen Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, Silver Creek, NY.
