Obituary of Jean M. Velott

Jean M. Velott, 81, of Eden, New York died Friday, August 12, 2011. She was born in Lackawanna, NY on March 20, 1930, the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Esther M. (Armstrong) Leyda. After high school graduation, Mrs. Velott became the Secretary of the Woodlawn High School. She then married her loving husband of 57 years, Mr. J. Frederick Velott. They then started their family of six children. She was a member of the Beulah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church, and was an amateur painter, starting at the age of 63. Her paintings were loved by many. She will be missed by the neighborhood kids for her expertise in baking. She was the loving wife of J. Frederick Velott, devoted mother of Diane (Timothy) Moore, Kathy Rae (Louis) DiPasqua, Jonathan (Cheryl) Velott, Ellen Long, Tracy Velott, and Harvey (Linda) Velott. She was the sisterof Art, Dick, George, Kate, late Margaret, late Esther, late Wayne, and late Fred. Grandmother of 17 & Great Grandmother of 29 Also surviving are several nieces & nephews.
