Obituary of Ellen Henry

ELLEN JOYCE HENRY 6/25/26 -- 8/19/11 Ellen J. (Eckhardt) Henry, lifelong resident of Hamburg, who along with her husband, managed and operated Kenneth A. Henry Sons, a vegetable and greenhouse business. Ellen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden, where she was baptized, confirmed and married to Kenneth A. Henry in October, 1949. She was actively involved in the Ladies Guild, Prayer Chain, and Altar Guild. After graduating from Hamburg High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School, she was employed by Jacob Hauck Insurance Agency. Ellen enjoyed working on the farm and in the greenhouses. Other activities included working in her garden, knitting, baking, and driving her Haflinger pony. She was a member of the Hamburg Antiques Study Group for many years, where she held the office of treasurer. Ellen loved her family, friends, and farm animals. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Kevin) O'Gorman, two sons Peter (Janine) and Martin (Barbara), and 10 grandchildren. She is the sister of Carolyn Dickie, the late Bernard (Helen) Eckhardt, and the late Evelyn (Donald) Preisinger. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
