Ferdinand F. Strozewski (Fred), 81, of Eden, New York died unexpectedly at Lakeshore Hospital Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Fred was born in Buffalo, New York on September 29, 1930, the son of the late Ferdinand and Elizabeth Strozewski. He was the loving companion of Terry Filbey and the devoted Father of Ferdinand J. (Kim), Elizabeth A., and Paul G. Strozewski. He was the grandfather of Jean-Paul and Alexander. Brother of late Daniel Strozewski and late Jeanette Agnes. Fred was also a father figure to Terry's children, Christopher, Yvette, Carrie, Holly, Becky, and grandfather figure to Michael, Amanda, Kristin, Elijah, Jacob, and Brandon. He was a retired Buffalo Police Officer. A Buffalo native, he graduated from East High School in 1948. He served with the 209th AAA Headquarters Battery NYNG. He was activated from 1950 to 1952 in the United States Army to serve in the Korean Conflict. After returning to civilian life he soon reenlisted in the 27th Military Police NYNG. After serving his country, Fred worked for the U.S. Postal Service. After that he joined the Buffalo Police Department in 1960 and retired in 1992 after 32 years of service. He was assigned to the Kensington Prec. #16 as a rookie officer, the later transferred to vice, Liquor, gambling, and narcotics. He worked narcotics in a undercover capacity. He won in arbitration for future police officers seniority in right to bid for jobs in other precincts. He later transferred to the Niagara Prec. #10 He was also a part time police officer for the Town of Eden. He was a volunteer on the Eden Emergency Squad for 17 years and Rescue Squad. Fred was a member of the Police Benevolent Association and was also a member of the American Legion Post # 880 in Eden, NY and served as Commander, Sgt. at Arms, and Historian. Family invites friends to call on Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 7-9pm and Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Laing Funeral Home Inc 2724 West Church Street, Eden, New York 14057. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church Eden, NY Burial with military honors will follow in the Eden Evergreen Field of Honor Cemetery Memorials may be made to Eden Emergency Squad or the Buffalo Police Benevolent Asscociation, Inc 74 Franklin St. Buffalo, NY 14202 Words of sympathy may be made on www.LaingFuneralHome.com
