Richard J. Battleson, 68, of Eden, New York died unexpectedly in Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. He was born in Lackawanna, NY on May 19, 1943, the son of late Edward and Margaret (Leyda) Battleson. He married his loving wife, Marion R. Smith on February 12, 1966. He was a Past Assistant Chief and life member with the Eden Fire Company, a member of the American Legion Newell-Faulkner Post 880 and the Eden VFW Memorial Post 8625. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his big heart, his hard work ethics, and his common sense approach to life. He was a caring husband and a loving father. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His family will remember him for his ability to tinker with things and be able to find ways to fix anything. Most of all they will remember him for his "Lightening Speed." He also loved the outdoors as he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the husband of Marion R. (nee: Smith), Father of Brenda, Richard (Tammi), William (Kelly), and Wayne (Sara) Battleson. Brother of Edward (Betty), James (Pat) Battleson, late Linda (Jim) Dziak, Charles (Peg) Battleson, and Barbara (George) Abraham. Grandfather of 12. Uncle of several nieces & nephews.
