Beatrice H. Barton, 89, of Eden, New York died Sunday, February 26, 2012. She was born in Kabob, NY, on August 8, 1922. She was the only child of the late C. Lee and Edna (Holtz) Hilton. She was on of five girls in the Jamestown Girl Scout Council awarded the Girl Scouts highest award; "The Golden Eaglet" the last year it was awarded due to changes in the national program. She was Valedictorian of Cassadaga Central School, Class of 1940. She later then graduated from Rider University in 1942. She was on the Dean's List. She was the first and only female to be hired as a secretary for the Freight Traffic Manager's Buffalo Office of Lehigh Valley RR during WWII. She was a volunteer at the front desk for the Eden Boys and Girls Club the first year it opened. She was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church, where she was an Adult Sunday School Teacher for over 20 years. She was the Lay Person Honoree in the year 2003. In her spare time she enjoyed Golfing, Knitting and Quilting. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean L. Barton. She is survived by a son; Robert (Deborah) Barton, daughter; Judy Dean (Sandra Fundalinski) Barton, and a grandson; Jesse Dean (Alexis) Barton. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 3:00PM at the Eden United Methodist Church, Eden, NY Burial will be in the Eden Evergreen Cemetery.
