Our sympathy to the family of Marlilyn Bowen, married to our cousin & nephew Lee. My father, Louis (Jack) Hartman and Lee's mother Ruth were brother and sister. My mother, Agnes Hartman, was very fond of Marilyn. At family gatherings, they often sat together-in-laws trying to figure out the Hartman/Bowen families. My mother, Aunt Agnes, is 95 living at Schofield Residence in Tonawanda. We are all sad to hear of Marilyn's passing. our prayers with you. Cathy

She was my Little Mommie Bowen and I loved her very much. Her tiny little self couldn’t contain her huge heart and all her love spilled out – her love for Lee, Mike and Marcia, for Dora and Buck, for her granddaughters and great-grandsons, for Joanne, for all her family and her many, many friends.
She had the most wonderful, endearing, quirky sense of humor – her massive pig collection is just one example of that. She never took herself too seriously and was always first to laugh at herself.
So many happy memories with our Little Mommie Bowen and Lee in the kitchen at the house on Bauer Road – Marcia, Shelly and I playing Yahtzee for hours at the dining room table, eating Cheeze-Its and drinking Squirt, playing with Snowball, spending summer nights in the screen house out back – she and Lee shook their heads at us but always laughed along with us and always made us feel so welcome.
She wrapped her arms around me and has left a warm, loving smile in my heart – a smile that will be there every time I think of her.

Marilyn was the nicest client I ever had. I will greatly miss cleaning for her. She was so easy to talk to and such a kind-hearted person... I never left her apartment without laughing during our time together. I got such a kick out of her Pig Collection!!! The Bowen family will be in my prayers.

Here is my poem which I wrote for Marilyn (I think she helped me to write it).
God calls another angel home, as we send her on her way.
She gave so much to all of us, so we honor her today.
She was quite a sassy little gal, with her hugs & wooden spoon. Now she's moving on ahead of us to set US up a room.
She loved her "bugs", she loved her "pigs"' but she loved her family more; and every time the phone rang, you would wait for what's in store.
She talked of luncheons with her many friends. She'd talk of theaters, church, day's events.
She'd always listen when it was your turn. Was more FRIEND than family; and whenever things weren't going right, She'd share a hug with me.
She loved each one of us with her WHOLE heart! Her love, it had no end. She wasn't just a Mother-In-Law, she was also my BEST FRIEND.
She went with me to Washington, and then to Tennesee. Whenever I needed a hand to hold, hers was always there for me.
She shared herself with everyone, and evrywhere she went she ran into someone that she knows. "Great to see you!" was their lament.
When I took her with me to Washington, we weren't even yet checked in when a man walked up... said "Marilyn?!" Yep.... She'd found another friend.
This would happen everywhere we went. No matter the state or town. We'd find some far out, far away place, but one always tracked her down.
We'd joke about it all the time. How I couldn't take her anywhere without us finding a long-lost friend, so I had to learn to share.
And share I did as time marched on, with new friends and old alike; but mostly with her grandkids, for they were her true delight.
They'd go to movies... lunch...the shows. For each concert she was there. She always had a laugh and hug she was freely willing to share. And then her "grandboys" came along and she opened up her arms. She held them tight within her heart. They were her newest song.
She played with them and did a great job of showing they were equally loved, and now God's picked her for his own. He's taking her up above.
So as we say "good-bye" to her, there's emptiness in our hearts; but remember, she's up there paving our way to give US a new start.
