Lawrence R. Croft, 90, of Lawtons, NY died Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the V.A. Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born July 17, 1922, the son of Lawrence and Cora Croft. He proudly served in the United States Navy in WWII. He had a helping hand in the floor plans of building the Eden V.F.W Post # 8265. He was an Independent contactor, helping to build not only his own home, but his children's homes. Prior to becoming an independent contract in carpentry he worked for Bethlehem Steel. After his service in the US Navy he helped out the Veterans in anyway he could. He enjoyed marching in many of the parades and telling his stories of wartime, as he was an avid speaker. He was also proud of his Irish Heritage and was very proud of his grandchildren. He was a member of the Hamburg Adult Daycare, where he was know by all for his dancing. He enjoyed his coffee time with his friends every Tuesday and Thursday. He was the husband of late Johanna M. Croft, father of Betsy (Dr. Thomas) Polisoto, Lawrence (Judy) Jr., Brian (Dawn), Sean (Norma) Croft, Eve (Robert) Herr, Michael (Kathy), Kevin (Cheryl) David (Lorena) Lavtar and late John Orban, brother of Edward (Betty) Croft and late Robert, Francis and Margarite. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00AM at Eden VFW 2551 March Rd. Eden.
