Allison, I have just gone on to this web site. Finally had the strength to look at Grover's page, and am saddened to see the news of John's passing. My thoughts are with you. I do think I know how hard this is for you and the family. On this Thanksgiving weekend, I am thankful we both had wonderful men in our lives.

Many of happiest days were ones that included John. From our high school days at St. Mary's to the more recent kayaking in the Homosassa River, John was a joy to be with. A poem I came across by Florence Otokito expresses it best:
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not meant to be.
So he put his arms around you
And whispered 'Come to Me'.
With tearful eyes we watched you
As we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us.
He only takes the best.
Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Even though a loved one is gone,
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory,

wow. what a shock to see this notice, John, Jen & Allison... please know that that our community is better because of John. He cared deeply about leaving this place better than he found it and it is with a heavy heart that we let him go.
he was a good cop - a good friend - and he leaves an enormous footprint on Buffalo and WNY through his good deeds and his good work.
