Florence F. Herkey, 84, formerly of Eden, New York, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was born May 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Alfonso and Mary (Amato) Congilosi. She married her loving husband Gerald P. Herkey, who died in November 2007, on June 12, 1948 in the Holy Cross Rectory. Florence will be remembered as a terrific mother. She was known for always being there for her children. Throughout her life Florence had an array of jobs, including Feasley's Dairy, Hogg's Dairy and the Eden school cafeteria where she touched the lives of the many people she met. She is survived by her children; Deborah (Glen) Tasker, Peter (Sylvia) Herkey, Heidi Tasker, Mark (Trisha) Herkey and Lisa Grabenstatter; 17 Grandchildren and four Great grandchildren. She was the sister of Joseph Congilosi, Phyllis Congilosi, Ann Schreiner and Tony Congilosi.
Besides her husband Gerald, she is predeceased by a sister Rosemarie Nola, a sister Norma Congilosi and a brother Sam Congilosi.
No prior Visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Immaculate Conception Church, Eden, NY.
Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Eden, NY.
