When I was in the sewing center on Friday evening I found out the terrible news about Paull's passing. I was totally shocked. I had not been out to the shop in some time as I live in the north towns and rarely get down that way. I will never forget the way I was always treated in the store. The first time I stopped in I was heading to Gowanda and saw a cute sewing shop so I decided to stop in and see what it was all about. I was greeted with a very warm welcome. I looked around and don't remember if I purchased anything on that visit, but it was about 10 months before I got back down that way to go into the shop again. As soon as I walked in the door Paul said, "Hey Mark, how are you doing?" This totally shocked me, because after only meeting me once 10 months earlier; he remembered not only me but my name. That just made me feel that I was important to him and the shop. I have been there many times since, and always feel very welcome by everybody. They are great, and caring people.

We can't even imagine that we won't be going out to dinner with both you and Paul at the next Quilt Festival in Houston. Carolyn and I would crack up as Paul and Mike lapsed into different "characters" with distinct accents and reminisced about the "old days" when they both taught at Lake Shore Central. Next time you come down, Carolyn, we'll carry on the tradition!! We cherish the fabulous album of photos Paul took at our wedding reception back in 1986. And always, we will cherish our memories of Paul. Our prayers are with all of you.

He guided my son through high school, taught him many life lessons and his love for photography - a hobby we shared. I hope it's not too late to add my "thank you" to the "best teacher at Lake Shore Central" - a man who obviously enhanced many, many lives.

Paul has always had a special place in my heart, not only as a photography teacher and mentor, he also brought me into his families lives back in 1981, when I became the boys babysitter. Oh the memories.... Paul wanted me to learn to drive stick shift, "just in case of an emergency"...I hope the boys have overcome their case of whip lash!! Never the less, I did learn!
And the joker in him, everyone knew and loved, He and Wayne Rose played a number on me I will never forget, they made a big sign w/flashing Christmas lights and placed it on my 65 Rambler, they thought it would make a good taxi cab for what used to be the "Green Gables Old Folks Home" in Angola, so when I came out of work at Tops, it lit up like a Christmas tree!! Everyone wanted a ride!! Paul and Wayne just sat in the parking lot laughing hysterically, waiting for me to come out and see it!
He brought out my love for photography as well, you see things differently behind the camera!
On the serious side, he was always there to talk to and always gave the best advice.
He loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
Schaefer, you will be missed, but your memories will live on, no one can take those away!
God Bless....

Carolyn, Scott, Mike, Todd and families: The laughter and the tears. The shadows of misty yesteryears. The good times and the bad you've seen and all the others in between. Remember, do you remember the times of your life?(Paul Anka)
The song is all about memories. Paul surely knew how to make them. Hold those memories near to your heart. His wisdom, his humor and that smile will be missed by everyone. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Bev, Dean, Morgan and Melody.
Sew-long for now until we meet again.
