ondolence message is as follows:
"I send my most sincere condolences to the Eckert Family. I did not know Mrs. Eckert
but Cris would talk about her often and, how much she missed her. Chris and I knew
each for quite a while, working in the same industry in Puerto Rico. I am so saddened
by her passing. When we had the chance we would get together for lunch or she would
come over to my house and we would watch old movies and have a glass of wine. We
also shared our love of animals. We often ran into each other at the vet's office, her with
her dogs and me with my cats.
My husband and I will miss her dearly, her warmth, her laughter and most of all
her smile.

My heartfelt condolences to the Eckert Family on the loss of their mother Erika and sister Christa. As you share, talk, and remember, may you find that the mother and sister you loved so much still live in your hearts. And may all the wonderful memories of their life and love be with you and comfort you at this sad time. Gloria

Christa and I became college roommates for a year at Drake University in Iowa during 1966-67. She often praised her brother and was so proud of his service in the Navy. I remember when we got in trouble for sneaking our biology cats to our room to study them. Maybe that's where she developed her intense love of animals. We became very good friends, and I came home with her for the summer of '67 and had a wonderful time learning about the world outside of Iowa with Chris and her lovely parents. It was the best summer, riding horses on their beautiful acreage, and chasing activities (and guys) in her red Volkswagen. When Chris left Drake, we lost track, but she wrote me when a mutual friend from Eden was killed in the Viet Nam war. Each time I visit the Viet Nam Memorial and see David Finger's name, memories of that summer and Christa come back . It seems that her life continued to be typical of the free and kindred spirit she always was. I always have, and will miss her.

I knew Chris only for a short while, however she impressed me with her wit and wisdom. Even though I had not seen her in a few year I thought of her often and remebered the kind thoughts and wisdom she shared with me. She will be missed.

I was truly saddened by the news of the passing of Chris and Erika. I met Chris in 1988 when I bought the SPREAD EAGLE business and she was instrumental in getting me acclimated to life in Puerto Rico and surviving the first year in business with Jack. She was a terrific employee, a good friend and a kind and sensitive person.
Although she often felt the pain of life dealing her bad hands, she'll be remembered as the person with a smile who was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
I will contact my vet (recommended by Chris many years ago) first thing in the morning and find out what organization would most appreciate a contribution made in her name.
I want to express my deepest sympathies to you all.
