Obituary of Dean L. Barton

Dean L. Barton 87, of Eden, died Monday, April 12, 2010.
Born in Ludlow, PA on October 9, 1922, the oldest child born to Vance T. and Iona (Parrish) Barton.
Mr. Barton was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and attended Jamestown Community College prior to enlisting in the Marines in 1942. He served for three years in the South Pacific, participating in consolidation of North S.I.; Offensive and Defensive action at Bougainville; capture of Guam, M.I.; and the capture and occupation of Okinawa.
After WWII Mr. Barton was an apprentice as a journeyman stereotyper and later switched to an engraver. Mr. Barton retired from Buffalo News in 1987. He served as president of Local 25 Stereotypers union.
Mr. Barton enjoyed golfing and wood crafting.
Mr. Barton is survived by his loving wife Beatrice (Hilton) Barton, whom he was married to for 64 years, a son Robert L. (Deborah) Barton, a daughter Judy D. Barton, a grandson a Marine Corporal, Jesse D. Barton, a brother Robert B. Barton, and a sister in law Donnamae Barton.
He is predeceased by a brother William N. Barton and two sisters Doris Waite and Joyce Axford.
A memorial service will be held at the Eden Untied Methodist Church on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:00AM. Rev. Helen Hadley will officate.
There will be no prior visitation.
