Gerald A. Smith, age 73, of Eden, New York, died in his residence on Sunday, August 3, 2014. He was the son of the late Frederick and Vera (Sugg) Smith. He was born in Alden, New York on July 3, 1941. He married his loving wife Anna E. Niedermeyr-Smith on June 30, 1989 in Eden, NY. Mr. Smith will be remembered for his love and knowledge of restoring classic cars. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He loved to build and remodel houses. He was the devoted husband of Anna E. (Nee: Niedermeyr); the loving brother of Donald (Vivian) Smith, Gloria (late Stanley) Giza, Richard (Mildred) Smith, Vera (late Richard) Maines, Eugene (late Catherine) Smith, Claudette (late Harvey) Girard, Gail (late Norman) Yost, Linda (Toby) Myers and late Shirley (late Norman) Riedel. Brother in law of John Niedermeyr, and Paul (Jane) Niedermeyr. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Family invites friends to call from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm on Thursday at the Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 W. Church St. Eden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 8791 S. Main Street, Eden. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials to Roswell Park or Hospice of WNY.
