Thomas J. Smith, age 84, of Eden, New York died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born April 28, 1930 in Buffalo, New York, the son of late Edwin L. and Eleanor C. Smith. Thomas worked for Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company for 41 years. He retired in 1991. He served his country from 1951-1953 as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He married his loving wife Mary Jane “Janie” Thompson on December 27, 1980.
Thomas was a Past President for the Eden Chamber of Commerce.
He was the devoted husband of Mary Jane “Janie” (nee: Thompson) and late Myrtle McClory;
The loving father of Thomas J. (Phyllis) Smith Jr., David G. Smith, Cynthia Beth Smith, Traci E. Johnson and William R. (Matthew Scudder) Smith;
brother of Sr. Maura J. Smith, late E. Leo (Tecla) Smith, Eleanor “Sally” (late Eugene) Conmy, late Veronica (late Ronald) Lucas and late Kathleen Smith.
Grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 1.
Family invites friends to call from 2-4PM and 7-9PM Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Laing Funeral Home Inc. 2724 W. Church St. Eden.
Funeral Service will be held 10:30AM Monday, October 6, 2014 from the Hamburg Presbyterian Church 177 Main St. Hamburg.
A full military service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Eden, NY
