We were former next-door Neighbors to Jean and "Duke" for at least ten or more years; loved them both. They were most kind and gracious to us, as we were recent newlyweds, and had just bought a very old house next-door to them. Each Summer for quite a few years their well would run dry in the late Summer, and we used to stretch our hose to the top of their well to help them out. They were always most grateful and appreciative.
After "Duke" died, Jean moved to Hamburg, and became the head of the Library. She was most kind to our son, John, who worked their as a page for several years.
Jean was a great addition to the Library, and indeed most responsible for its continued growth and importance.
She was one GREAT WOMAN!! You can be proud that she was your Mother!!!
