“There are two kinds of teachers: the kind that fill you with so much quail shot that you can't move, and the kind that just gives you a little prod behind and you jump to the skies.”

Bob Burnside made a big difference in my life. The way he taught not only as a teacher but as a coach. Over my 4 years of high school at ECS he was always there to see how you were doing, make suggestions not only in basketball, but in football and in track. He wanted to make sure things were going well for you and keep you on the right track. To this day I have made sure I do the same with the student/athletes I coach and I am forever grateful what he taught me. My prayers are with him and the family. Rest in peace Coach!

We are saddened by the loss of such a great man, not only to the Eden community, but to Western New York athletics. It was always a pleasure to compete against Burnside coached teams, knowing that sportsmanship and concern always was present within the extremely well prepared teams. Bob was truly a gentleman and a competitor and instilled those same values in the many young athletes whose lives he touched and shaped. HE surely will be missed, but we know that there will be many smiles shared as he is remembered for generations to come. 41
