Obituary of Norman R. Witte

Norman R. Witte, age 91, of Hamburg, New York died Wednesday, March 21, 2018. He was born March 9, 1927 in East Hamburg, New York. He was a son of the late Richard and Amelia (Butler) Witte. Mr. Witte was a hardworking man that was known for his crafting and fabrication skills as well as his wood working and building art. He proudly served in the United States Army.

He married his devoted wife Mildred (Eckhardt) Witte of 59 years in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Eden, New York. Together they raised three wonderful children.

He was the husband of Mildred (Nee: Eckhardt), the father of Karl N. Witte, Jane L. (Philip) Macchioni, Jr. and Joyce E. Schmitt. Father – in –law of Brian Schmitt. He was the loving grandfather of Karman and Kevin Witte, Bradley (Tara) Macchioni, Sarah (Jordan) Smolinski, Andrew and Matthew Schmitt. Great Grandfather of Joseph Smolinski.

A private graveside with military honors was held for the family.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 7:00PM in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 8740 Supervisor Ave., Colden, NY.  Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Laing Funeral Home Inc. 2724 W. Church St. Eden, NY.
