Robert (Bob) Leslie Liljequist, age 78, of Eden, New York passed away Friday March 13, 2020 in Rochester, New York. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn (nee Lang); daughters, Karen and Kim (Cornell Womack); grandchildren, Evan (Marissa), Hanna and Peter.
Bob was born in 1941 in Honesdale, PA, the son of the late Leslie and Anna (nee Helferich) Liljequist. He graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1963 and earned his Masters degree in Education from Hofstra University in 1966. A career public school teacher and administrator, he served in the Connetquot School District on Long Island for 34 years.
Bob had a passion for educating future generations. Upon retirement, he enthusiastically shared his experience and expertise in teaching hunter safety courses. He was a founding member of the Boys & Girls Club of Eden where he enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors.
Bob was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden, New York where he contributed his gifts through membership on the Church Board and through his love and participation in the church choir.
Bob was a warm and generous man with a love of country music, cribbage and baseball. His sense of humor, compassion and generosity will be remembered by anyone who was fortunate to know him.
A private memorial service was held. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and/or the Eden-North Collins Food Pantry.
