Obituary of Cynthia Ann Schindler

Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Henry Schindler, 68, of Toano, VA, passed away on February 23, 2021. Cindy was born in Lackawanna, NY to Walter and Ruth (Plass) Henry on April 22, 1952. She attended high school at Hamburg High School and graduated in 1970. She went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish from Thiel College. She enjoyed crafting and cross-stitch, which she used to make many gifts for family and friends, baking, especially with her grandchildren, gardening, and scrapbooking. She was involved in LWML and women’s groups and bible studies at the churches she attended. She was very active in Officers’ Wives Clubs during her husband's time in the Navy. She also took pride in all of her children’s activities, cheering them on at meets, performances and games, and volunteering at their schools whenever needed. Cindy is survived by her husband, Ralph Schindler, of Toano, VA, son Rick (Lisa) Schindler, daughters Cristina (Jay) Stokes, and Rachel Schindler; siblings Tim (Peg), Barbara, Bruce (Tammi) and Emily (Armin); grandchildren Natalee, Amelia, and Henry; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth Henry. Cindy will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, warmth, and generosity. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s on March 6 at 11 AM with Pastor Lutz of St. Paul’s officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Eden, NY. Visitation will be held at Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 W. Church St., Eden, NY 14057 on March 5, 2021 between 4 and 7 PM.
