Rosella I. Schasel (nee: Thiel), age 83, of Eden, New York died September 30, 2023. She was born in Boston, NY; a daughter of the late Floyd and Florence Thiel. She married her husband, Donald on July 2, 1960. They were married for 59 years. She was the loving mother of Donelle Thomas, Robert Schasel (Lawre Alexander) and Cynthia Newell. She was the grandmother of Ashley (Isaac) Cobo, Adam, Elizabeth and Matthew Schasel, Connor and Ethan (Kaitlyn) Mammoser, Sarah and Carter Newell. She was the great grandmother of Emily and Dylan Held, Jaxson Cobo, Elliot Mammoser, and Amelia and Micah Mammoser. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony Thiel, Joseph (Marie) Thiel and sister, Kathleen (Charles) Smith. Survived by brothers Nelson (Debi) Thiel, John(Laura) Thiel and Frances (Sheri) Thiel, sisters Bess (Frances) Enser, Eugenia (Gordon) Olson and MaryAnn (Earl) Bartz. Rosella attended Millard Fillmore School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered nurse. She worked at Our Lady of Victory hospital until she accepted the position of school nurse at the Eden Elementary School. She loved all “her kids” at the school. Everyone knew her as Mrs. Schasel, the school nurse. She was devoted to her community. After her retirement, Rosella and her husband, Don worked almost everyday at the Eden North Collins Food Pantry. They also delivered meals on wheels every Wednesday. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on November 11, 2023 at 11AM Immaculate Conception Church, Eden. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials to Eden/North Collins Food Pantry, Box 76, Eden, NY 14057.
