James P. Kwarta, age 71, of Hamburg, New York died Monday, February 12, 2024, in Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on September 12, 1952, in Buffalo, New York. He was a son of the late Frank and Mary Kwarta. Jim’s life was centered around his loving grandchildren. Jim retired from Gowanda Correctional Facility in 2005 as a NYS Correctional Officer after 30 years of service. Jim was proud to be a certified Firearms Range Instructor. He was a member of the Springville Field and Stream. He is survived by his devoted sons, James (Leah) Kwarta Jr., Brian (Shanna) Kwarta, Eric (Celeste) Kwarta and Marc (Daire) Kwarta, his loving grandchildren Aidan, Mason, Noah, David, Frank, Charlee, Ashlynn, Ava, Lacey and Lindy. Also surviving is his sister Sue (Doug) Beeman and several nieces. Beside his parents Frank and Mary Kwarta, Jim is predeceased by a sister Patricia Jolicoeur. Family and friends are invited to call at the Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 W. Church St., Eden NY 14057 on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 2-4PM & 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus RC Church, 123 Townsend Street, Buffalo, NY 14212 on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:00AM. Inurnment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) Words of sympathy may be left on www.LaingFuneralHome.com
