Obituary of Bonita E. Hardy

Bonita E (Woodard) Hardy, 64, of Eden, NY, entered into rest peacefully at home on May 25, 2011. She was born on May 6, 1947 in Lackawanna, NY, the daughter of Bernard W and Erma E (Mills) Woodard and loved sister of Blaine M Woodard who predeceased her. Bonnie is survived by Robert, her husband of 43 years, daughter Bethany Nelligan, son Brent, and son-in-law Timothy Nelligan. Bonnie was cherished grandmother to Cade Gesh and Landon Nelligan, loving sister to Lee Woodard, Daryl Woodard, Clark Woodard and dearest aunt to Gary Webb, Marc Bohn, Stephen Bohn, Keith Bohn, Laura Woodard, Nathan Woodard and Brian Woodard. Bonnie was a 30-year employee of HSBC Bank USA. She joined the bank in 1981 under the Marine Midland Bank name and after nine years in the Operations Conversion Department, she began a 21-year career in branch banking at the Eden, HSBC Center, Wanakah and Springville offices. She was best known for her role as one of the bank's first Premier Relationship Managers at the HSBC Center "flagship" branch during the mid-2000's. At the time of her retirement, she was Assistant Vice President & Branch Relationship Banker at the Springville office. A longtime active member of the Eden United Methodist Church, Bonnie served her congregation in several capacities, including Finance & Audit Committee, Chairwoman of the Friendship Circle, New Sanctuary Interior Decorating Committee and service on several bazaars and fundraising events. An avid gardener and craftsman, Bonnie was renowned for her orchids and decorative creations. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, golfing and shopping with close friends. She was devoted to her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be made to the Eden United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2820 East Church Street, Eden, NY 14057. A memorial service celebrating Bonnie's life will be held at Eden United Methodist Church at 6pm on Wednesday June 1, with refreshments to follow.
