Obituary of Anita L. Smith

Anita Louise Smith (Maier) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Eden on Thursday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. for Anita Louise Smith (Maier), 75, of Eden, who entered the heavenly kingdom on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Anita is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald Smith; her children, Lisa (Paul) Winter, Nadine Schlegel, Michelle (Tom) Wahl, and Jeff Smith; her grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Christopher and Anna Winter, Jacob and Lucas Schlegel, and Morgan and TJ Wahl; and her great grandchild, Brooklynn. Anita was predeceased by her beloved sister, Elsie Hausberger. Shortly after her marriage, Anita and Ron moved to Eden where she chose to stay home to raise her four children. Once her children were grown, she worked with BOCES for 19 years. After her retirement, she concentrated most of her time on her grandchildren and volunteered for the Tri-County Crisis Pregnancy Center where she served on the board for many years. Anita and Ron loved to travel and enjoyed many beautiful vacations together, as she loved and appreciated God's creation. Anita was involved with many activities at Immaculate Conception Church, including membership of the Altar & Rosary Society, as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Anita was also very passionate about the weekly prayer gatherings that they hosted in their home. Friends received at the Laing Funeral Home, Inc., 2724 West Church Street, Eden, on Tuesday, May 21 from 6-8pm and Wednesday, May 22 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service to be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 8791 S. Main Street, Eden, at 10am on Thursday, May 23. Flowers gratefully declined.
