One of the finest if not greatest ! He had strength and ability beyond my comprehension as a student ! He had drive and ambition higher than anyone with the form of excellence in every step ! I only wish I carried forth my abilities too become a better human and professional artist ! Some of my work was driven from his drive and ambition and power as an educator! My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Rose during this time of grief and sorrow. I hope comfort can be found within the words of support and stories shared by those he impacted as a coach, educator, and friend. As an art student and cross country runner for Lake Shore in the late 90's and early 2000's, Mr. Rose played a very important role in my life. I credit him for helping me to find strength I never knew I had, challenging me creatively, and showing me that running could indeed be fun when you had such a great group of friends to do it with. Although I lost touch after heading to Ohio for college, I often thought of him and was always happy to hear when my parents would run into him out and about. When I returned to running during the past few years I would find myself reflect on those days running the trails in Eden with soaked shoes and terrible shin splints. It wasn't always fun, but Mr. Rose was always right there with us encouraging us to do our best.
May he be at peace in eternal rest and may God watch over those he loved the most.

Our prayers and hugs go to Julie and the family. I attended Lakeshore Central when he coached track and field. He was an amazing coach - so organized and supportive of all the athletes. As years went by, I learned to love the sport of running and did so for decades. A generation later, he was my daughter's track coach. She grew to love the sport as well and was part of his winning relay. He not only was a great coach but a wonderful person as well. God bless him and the Rose family. Hugs and love, Barb O'Brien

My wife Maria and I Gary Smith send our condolences for Wayne's family and friends. Our prayer is that God shall bring comfort and peace to all of you during this time of mourning. According to Matthew 5:4 Jesus said blessed are those mourn for they shall be comforted.
I was a student at Lake Shore from 1975-79 and Mr. Rose was my art teacher as well as cross country coach. He was my best teacher I ever had as well as a super coach.

Captain ,my Captain. Wayne was the Hamburg Cross country team captain my first year running for Coach Foster in Hamburg. Coach and he must of made a plan to encourage this scrawny kid to train that summer. We were running several times a week, playing BB and making positive relationships that lasted a life time. Clearly he was this young kids mentor that year as we ran, and developed a great cross country and later track squad of runners. Over years of paying back as a coach and track official emulating the example of my youth was my goal. Sure wish I was closer to stand and pray with friends and family. We have a saying about keeping your fork after a great meal shared with friends. Why? Because some thing better is coming to be shared. I am sure Wayne has a fork because He is in a place that is better for eternity. See ya on the other side Wayne.

I have been thinking about Wayne with increasing frequency over recent years, and oddly so, more so in the last few days. I was one of his art major students and I've always wanted to share with him how successful I had become as a Graphic Designer after taking almost all of his classes in the mid-to-late 90s. It is not lost on me that I searched for him from London today only to find that he passed just 3 days ago. He was an astounding teacher and know I wouldn't have achieved half of what I have without his support, guidance and dedication. He could truly sense artistic greatness in people and would drag it out if he had to! He'll always remain with me, even when it's as small as someone chewing gum (cud!). My sincere condolences to his family, friends and fellow students whose lives were equally impacted and bettered by him.

So sorry to hear of Coach Rose's passing - he always seemed so vibrant and full of life! I'm sure I speak for hundreds of people when I say the years I spent on "Uncle Wayne"'s (as we called him) teams in high school laid the foundation for any success I may have had in my own life. He lives on through us, and we will never forget him.

It is not possible for me to convey the impact Mr. Rose has had on my life. I can only say that my time spent with him during my high schools years, shaped me into the person I am today. He honesty believed in me. I say that with tears, because he was one of the few people that I ever felt really did believe in me. He was the first adult that made me feel proud. Dawn Drummer

Mr. Rose taught me for 6 years back in the 70's. I continue to paint today with an eye for composition, accuracy and vanishing points. It truly is his legacy as not only did I pass this on to my children but to my grandchildren as well. He was a tough teacher in the aspect of not settling for your comfort zone but reaching for more. Condolences to his family Noreen (Metzger) Ippolito

Wayne was the definition of a gentleman. He always took it upon himself to notice everyone around him and to make sure they were ok. I remember one time feeling a little cold in his house, and he was sitting across the room and must have noticed the slightest shiver because the next thing I knew, he put a big, warm blanket on me. I had barely even registered myself that I was cold, but he knew immediately. He was really a special person and raised truly wonderful children along with his amazing wife, Julie. I got the benefit of that as I am married to his son! He will forever be missed, but we will keep his memory alive by continuing to share stories about him with his grandson, Alexander.
